With a view to achieving sustainability in its transport operations, international transport company Hegelmann Group has placed an order for 150 IVECO S-WAYs on Bio-LNG and 10 on Bio-CNG.
The company has already invested heavily in reducing its CO2 emissions in recent years with an earlier purchase of 20 trucks on Bio-LNG. The Bio-LNG trucks have a range of up to 1,600km thanks to a 390kg tank capacity. The Bio-CNG trucks are equipped with a tank with 160kg tank capacity, enabling a range of 670km.
By switching to these sustainable trucks, Hengelmann is not only significantly reducing its emissions of nitrogen dioxide and soot, but also its CO2 emissions by up to 95% compared to a diesel truck. In addition to the low consumption, the Hegelmann Group was also impressed by the reduced noise of the two trucks. The CNG engine is up to 50% quieter than comparable diesel engines making it ideal for use in low-traffic areas and for night deliveries. Another additional advantage is that these trucks can also operate in 'eco-zones'. Also, they are not subject to the nighttime truck driving ban on the Inn Valley highway (12).
"In the current situation of exploding LNG prices, the decision was not easy, but we made a conscious decision to offer sustainable transports in the long term," says Andreas Schmidt, CSO Hegelmann Group/CEO Hegelmann Germany.
