OG Clean Fuels makes its own clean Bio-CNG 

Produced from residual materials

Bio-CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is a sustainable fuel that’s made from biodegradable residues, such as waste from sewage treatment, waste processing and organic waste (vegetables, fruit, and garden waste). These residues are converted into biomethane, which is then compressed to CNG.

There is an abundance of (organic) waste in the Netherlands, which means that 1.4 billion cubic meters of Bio-CNG can be produced. 

Every year, 1.3 million passenger cars can run on Bio-CNG (avg. 14,000km). This means a reduction of approximately 16.5 million tons (Mt) of CO2 emissions.

Clean

Bio-CNG is a sustainable fuel that is made from biodegradable residues, such as food waste and animal manure. This means that it does not contribute to the emission of carbon dioxide and other harmful substances, which are bad for the environment.

Bio-CNG for
transport

Bio-CNG offers trucks a range of approximately 550km. A CNG engine runs 50% quieter than a diesel engine, which is advantageous for city distribution at night, allowing you to load and unload outside of window times. In addition, you do not have to pay road tax (maut) for trucks in Germany, which can save transporters a lot of money.

BIO-CNG MANUFACTURING PROCESS

 

The Bio-CNG production process begins with the collection of organic waste and residual waste, such as biowaste. This is sifted and filtered, leaving only usable particles. These are then mixed with water and heated to 55℃. All of this is converted into methane, which is then converted into green gas in the gas treatment plant.

In Beverwijk (HHNK), OG has its own biogas production plant. In the water treatment process, sludge is the residual product. Biogas is released from the sludge. OG upgrades it to the right quality and then feeds it into the gas network.

YOUR WASTE, OUR FUEL


Did you know that your waste is used to make Bio-CNG? This can be done through sewage treatment, waste processing and organic waste. OG has one location in the Netherlands where we produce Bio-CNG ourselves, in Beverwijk. Sludge is the residual product of the water of the water purification process. Biogas is released from sludge. OG evaluates this to the right quality and then injects it into the gas network.

CNG AND CNG+


CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas and is natural gas under pressure. CNG produced from the Dutch natural gas network contains 78% methane. CNG+ is produced by compressing and heating liquid LNG. CNG+ produced from LNG contains approximately 95% methane. As a result, up to 20% more kilometres can be driven with this fuel (CNG+) than with CNG from the Dutch natural gas network. OG works closely with DCB Energy to set up and manage CNG+ sites. 

Note: CNG+ is more expensive than Bio-CNG because of the longer range!
